Deloris: Yes, I think you are right about Blinkey being your Uncle Leonard. The old Model T (especially if it was a one seater), and the shy part. He was much older, but I do remember him.
Yes, Hal may have copied two different Gordon files. I am happy to hear he was able to share with you.
Wollenberg boys, (4) went to school with me. There was John, Jim, Gene and Bill (bonehead). They were all excellent basketball players. Gene and I were in the same grade and played on the same team.
Martha Wollenberg Sagen lives near Somerset. She is a retired school teacher and a widow. I worked on the Alumni committee with her, for a few years. I can't remember her saying she was into genealogy. She has a brother named Jim, who lives over by Canal Winchester. I don't know if they are closely related to the four Wollenberg boys that I went to school with. Martha's phone number is 740-743-1642 and her address is 5207 Rush Crk Rd NW, Somerset, Ohio 43783. Hello Don,
It's always nice to hear the "stories" about the "happenings" in Junction City. Even though I was born in Somerset, we moved to Junction City when I was almost 5 years old so many of my memories are mostly of Junction City.
And, even after Mom & Dad moved back to the Somerset farm to care for my Uncle Leonard, we would go to the "Top Hat" many nights.
I wonder if the person you are referring to as "Binkley" might have been my Uncle Leonard?
He had the same Model T for many, many years. He never married and shortly before we moved to Junction City from the Somerset farm my parents had moved there to care for my Grandmother who had a stroke. And, Uncle Leonard lived with us. In fact, he never lived any where except on the Somerset farm.
I remember that on Saturday nights Uncle Leonard would drive his Model T to town. That was the extend of his "socializing." He was a very shy person.
Even after I was grown and tried to "talk" to Uncle Leonard, he always looked down. He would never "meet my eyes" during the conversation. Dad said that Uncle Leonard had one date and when he showed up, the father made him leave at "gun point." So he never dated after that!
By the way, Hal came over this morning and brought copies of two different Gordon genealogy.
We had a great time taking about all the people that were in my family that he knew.
During our conversation, I told him that I had been working on the family tree since 1997 and have yet to find a "Wallenberg" connection. The information I have is from the Perry County Probate Court records, the census records and from articles in the old news papers.
Two of my Dad's first cousins married two of the Wallenberg brothers.
Hal mention a lady that He thought might work with me on the Wallenberg genealogy.
Her name is Martha Wallenberg Sagan.
Hal ask me to ask you about her and if you think she might be interested in working with me.
If you know her, maybe you could ask her. Hal said that she had lost her husband and that she is in her 60's - old enough to appreciate to genealogy.

Deloris: So many Junction City Bringardner names jump out at me, after reading your Bringardner genealogy files. I remember a red faced fellow that had the nickname of Blinkey Bringardner. Seems I remember him as an owner of a old coupe. Nick names in the JC area were common, and many were given by 'Toad Clark', who owned a grocery store. I have been promised a paper that contains most of the nicknames.
I saw you included the Fisher's. We do tie into that clan, through Lucy Hoy (Mother of Martha Clara Fisher Finck). Lucy's sister, Catharine Hoy married William Paxton, my Great Grandfather. Lucy's Mother was Margaret Gordon who married John Stace Hoy. This is the Gordon line with Katie Clark Howerth.
As a child, Dave Finck, Grandson of Charles and Martha Finck, and I used to go visit Charles and Martha (we called her Mat) for evening euchre games. Mat and I would be partners. A peculiar habit of her's (that iritated her husband) was, if she had a bower (high card) before she played, she would raise it in her hand, about two inches, stop and lower it, as if to make sure she didn't make a mistake. Charlie would raise his voice and say 'My God, Mat, (blank) or get off the pot!
One time Dave and I found a young ground hog, and we took it to Mat, and she cooked it for us. She always fixed something for a snack.
Story goes, one time Charlie and Mat were getting ready for a Sunday dinner, and up drives a neighbor with a car full of kids. Mat says, 'what are we going to do, as we don't have enough for everybody? Charlie said, 'Just put out the dishes, and we will go through the motions'.
Like all the Finck's in this area, they were excellent neighbors, and I have fond memories of Charlie and Mat. BTW, I do have pic of them if you want. Later, Don

Or, if you have a scanner, can you scan the booklet for me?
I have been working the last several months with other Gordon researchers and it seems that there were 2 Gordon unrelated families in the same area of Perry County at the same time.
The census records provides us with names and year of birth but they do not show who all is related.
I have a paid subscription to ancestry.com and copied all the Gordon individuals that showed up in 1880. Then I had to color code each house hold before I put it into a PDF file for the other researchers.
And, since I am working with researchers from both the Gordon families, it would be nice to be able to connect the "Gordon" relationships.
